Week Three with Wealthy Affiliate
I wrote a specific Wealthy Affiliate Review last week (it was part of an assignment), but in reality my entire blog is, what I hope to be, a yearlong review. At this point, I cannot even promise that it will be a positive review. That is not to say I don’t believe WA is a well designed, helpful and ethical site. I am convinced the owners, Kyle and Carson, are honest and genuinely want to help their members succeed (their members’ success equates to greater WA success). Having said that, it is still possible (even with hard work and excellent training) that I will fail to earn the extra income I am hoping for. Therefore, I may be documenting my failure here – which would not reflect well on WA.
I am still plugging away and going through the step by step training here at Wealthy Affiliate. I’ve completed Phase One of Bootcamp and am currently in Phase Two Lesson 7. There is still so much to learn and it is all so new to me that I do find myself feeling overwhelmed often. However, when I go back and think of all I have learned and what I have accomplished I am amazed!
What I know now, that I didn’t know only a week ago:
- How to add links to website pages
- The importance of not over using affiliate links
- Why and how to shorten affiliate links
- The importance of and how to find keywords.
- How to research selling keywords
- How to clean up and improve my website using H-tags, side menus, and drop down menus
- What a widget is
- How to backup and recover my website
- and much much more!
The most difficult part of this process for me is the writing. I am definitely not a writer – it is difficult and especially time consuming for me. As I connect with other members of WA, I see there are many talented writers and I am so envious. I have not had the time to look into any lessons WA may have to help us less than A+ writers. I may try to find the time to look into it next week. I am hoping that with practice, I will improve.
I have to keep reminding myself that I am trying to start a small business and it is not something that can be done quickly, especially since I have so much to learn. I have no guarantee of success, but Wealthy Affiliate is giving me the tools to have that chance. WA is helping me to build a website, and teaching me the components of a successful site, but it is ultimately up to me to come up with a ideal niche and then to build my website in a way that attracts visitors.
